"Fireworks. Like it!"

That was Oliver's declaration this Fourth of July. It was another grand time in Granbury! We met Mike's folks there and spent some great time with their dear friends, Kay & John. It was a blast.

We went downtown for the parade this morning. We were all so excited b/c we thought that Oliver would L-O-V-E the parade. But it wasn't such a hit. He didn't hate it, but he was tired from a late night and it was humid and crowded. Although he was very excited about the firetrucks, their sirens were awfully loud when only a few feet away. He talked about them fondly after the parade, though! And he loved the noisy John Deere tractors. I now know why they're called "Poppin' Johnnies".

Tired boy. Look how much he's changed in the past two years!

Oliver always gets distraught about balloons that have gotten away from whomever loved them. Here he is pointing way into the sky and saying, "Oh no. Red balloon. Up there." If you look carefully you can see the balloon he's quite upset about. "Oh no, oh no, oh no." It's tragic. He does this every time we go to Wal-Mart or Sam's. Inevitably there are balloons way up in the rafters of those stores and he worries about them the entire time we're there. Jammie told O that the red balloon floated away to another child somewhere who will enjoy it and take good care of it. I laughed really hard and added, "Yes, probably somewhere in Africa."

O took a very long nap when we got back to the lake house. So did I. After that, we spent time visiting on the glider. Ahhhhh, so relaxing.

After O awoke from his nap he tried very hard to feed some ducks who wanted nothing to do with him. It was so sad to watch! He kept saying, "Don't go ducks! Bread! Bread!" as they ran from him as fast as their little webbed feet would go.

I love this pic of Daddoo and his boy on the dock. O was able to feed those skittish ducks a little from there.

PawPaw loves to make Oliver laugh.

The day ended with a great fireworks display. Unfortunately, we weren't able to watch fireworks from the boat b/c the lake is full of debris from all the flooding. We had a great time watching them from the Kroger parking lot, though, and Oliver is a big fan of fireworks.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day!
